You are defined by more than your struggles

Warm, culturally responsive counselling for life’s transitions, relationships, and inner conflicts.

Hi, I’m Dr Amira Fathimath

REGISTRED COUNSELLOR | PhD RESEARCHER | CROSS-CULTURAL & RELATIONAL PRACTICE

Many people come to therapy not because they are “broken”, but because they have spent too long carrying emotional weight alone.

You may be navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, cultural identity, grief, life transitions, or simply a growing sense that something in your life no longer feels aligned.

As both a counsellor and researcher in authentic cross-cultural therapeutic relationships, my approach is grounded more in human connection than technique alone. I offer a warm, thoughtful, and culturally responsive space where you can slow down, reflect honestly, and feel genuinely understood.

Together, we work toward greater clarity and a way forward that feels less heavy, more grounded, and more connected to yourself and your life.

A safe, judgement-free setting where you’ll feel heard

Seeking support can feel daunting. Many people carry emotional pain quietly - beneath responsibility, achievement, caregiving, or the pressure to keep functioning despite exhaustion, grief, anxiety, or inner conflict.

Therapy is not about “fixing” you. It is about making sense of your experiences, understanding the patterns that shape your emotional world, and creating space for healing, insight, and change at a pace that feels manageable.

Through a relational and trauma-informed approach, we explore the experiences, emotions, and inner conflicts that may be keeping you stuck, helping you move toward greater self-understanding, steadiness, and emotional resilience.

“I just wanted to say thank you. The deepest thank you I can offer from the bottom of my heart.

I never thought I could meet a counsellor who would whole heartily understand me and how my mind and soul works. The support you gave me to be able to breathe new air into my lungs and feel like my life isn't just for survival and that I'm allowed to live. I cannot thank you enough. You have changed my entire life... Helped me reform my bonds with my family... With myself... And with the world I'm in. I feel almost reborn and stronger. So much stronger.”

What You May Be Carrying

Emotional Overwhelm

You may find yourself constantly overthinking, emotionally exhausted, unable to switch off, or carrying a persistent sense of worry beneath daily life. I can support in understanding these patterns and create space for greater calm, steadiness, and self-understanding.

Racial stress & Cultural Identity

Experiences of racism, discrimination, or cultural misunderstanding can quietly affect our sense of safety, belonging and emotional well-being. Together, we explore the impact of these experiences with care, insight, and cultural understanding.

Feeling Numb, Lost, or Disconnected

Sometimes distress does not appear as sadness alone. It can feel like emotional heaviness, emptiness, exhaustion, loss of motivation, or feeling disconnected from yourself, others, or the life you once recognised.

Self-Worth & Inner Criticism

Many people carry harsh inner narratives shaped by relationships, culture, expectations, or past experiences. Together, we explore the emotional roots of these patterns and work toward a more compassionate and grounded relationship with yourself.

High-Functioning but Emotionally Exhausted

You may appear capable and composed on the outside while quietly carrying overwhelm, emotional fatigue, or loneliness within. This space allows you to pause, process what you are carrying, and reconnect with yourself beyond survival mode.

Trauma & Difficult Experiences

Past experiences can continue to affect how safe, connected, or emotionally settled we feel in the present. Therapy offers space to gently process difficult experiences at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.
